Traveling by a private car is the best option. It will take 2.5 hours to drive from Bangkok to Ban Phe village and piers. The highway is in a good condition and mostly we travelled between 100-120 km/hour. Although traffic is quite heavy getting out of Bangkok, it is pretty smooth flowing once you got out of Bangkok. You would firstly need to drive to the village of Ban Phe. There are several highways out of Bangkok and on to Ban Phe/Rayong area.

1. Take the highway from Bangkok to Pattaya using Highway No. 34 (Bang Na Trat) (pay a combined toll), it takes 1 hour. And from there it is about another 1 hour to Ban Phe / Rayong on Highway 36.

2.The direct route is to take Motorway No. 7 from Bangkok to Chon Buri. Motorway is the expressway from Bangkok to Eastern Districts. You have to pay a combined toll. It takes 1 hour to reach Highway No. 36. And from there it is about another 1 hour to Ban Phe/Rayong on Highway No. 36.

3. One more route is to take the highway No. 34 from Bangkok to Chon Buri, and then Highway No. 344 (Ban Bung-Klaeng), then turn into Highways No. 331 and No. 36 to Ban Phe/Rayong.

Ferry and Speed Boat from piers to Samed (Samet) Island

There are several piers offering ferry and speed boat rides to Samed Island, and the boat fares can be varied depending on the beach destinations that you are going. Normally, the ferry leaves you at Na Dan Pier on the island. On the other hand, the speed boat leaves you at your destination. In this trip, the speed boat will leave you in front of Samed Sand Sea Resort. Ferries are leaving piers to Samed Island every hour over the day from 6 am to 6 pm. The trip takes 30 minutes by ferry and 15 minutes by speed boat.

There is a local taxi service from Na Dan Pier to Samed Sand Sea Resort. It takes 5-10 minutes to the resort.

National Park Admission Fee

Since Samed Island is considered as a national park, there is an admission fee of 200 Baht per person to be paid to the authority on the island.
